Go for Gola: Dishoom Chowpatty Beach Bar

Dishoom Chowpatty Beach Bar

Hello summer. Finally. While proximity prevents us from dropping everything to run to the beach, the Dishoom Chowpatty Beach Bar offers a sandy Thames-side spot to let your hair down this summer. Taking inspiration from the popular Bombay beach strip, the pop-up bar and café will be serving spicy snacks and refreshing summer drinks until the start of October. And if you do make it down there (perhaps this afternoon?), skip the cider and go for gola. Bombay’s answer to the snow-cone, the gola is a toothache-inducingly sweet concoction of shaved ice, doused with flavoured syrups and compacted onto a stick… If that in itself sounds as if it will have you bouncing up Big Ben, try one spiked with Ketel One Vodka or Pampero Rum. Just for fun.

Dishoom Chowpatty Beach Bar is open until 4th October 2011
Queen Elizabeth Hall Terrace, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London SE1 8XX
